Kane for Fowler straight up.... wow. I've seen some very dumb ideas on this site (usually belonging to Tanner or Garth, imagine that), but this could well be the worst ever.

Right now, Kane is a toxic asset and his trade value is virtually nil while these legal charges hang over his head. Even if Buffalo waived him, I'm not sure there's a team in the league that would be willing to claim him and his $5.25 million ($6 million actual salary) contract that runs for another two years.

The big question is how will Barrie's Arb affect Vesey?

You are getting nothing for Kane. The only player that i can see the ducks having any interest in trading for Kane is Bieksa, and even then you have to eat half of Kanes salary to make it work for them. Also Bieksa would have to wave is nmc.

As for the ducks cap issues. 9.2 is enough to sign those 2. Rakell will not get 4 for his one 20 goal season.

It's very simple. After Barrie is awarded his 5 to 6 million. The Aves are going to decide that they just can't pay him that. So they will trade him for Kane and his 6 million dollar salary (cap hit of just of 5.25). However, since when you trade for Kane, you are not just getting Kane the hockey player, but also Kane the Party Animal, and his off ice issues, the Aves will have to throw in a conditional 2nd rounder to even it out. The 2nd rounder turns into a 1st in the event Kane is later suspended by the NHL for conduct detrimental to the league.

After this Vesey can easily slide into the Sabres top 6. Everybody wins. The Sabres get a top 4 defensemen, a pick and Vesey. Vesey gets his top 6 spot, and gets to play with his hero Eichel, and the Aves get Kane.
